Money IN

Hi!

2017 is the year that I am treating my dollars like little green soldiers where each one will have a job!

I made a deposit Friday morning. This is my first 2 paychecks for the month of January ...

$1,717.00 total deposited.

I still haven't upped my long term savings with CapitalOne 360 ... was thinking of increasing the $100 to $110 and then adding another $25 weekly deposit ...

I paid everyone on Friday (the 13th) as it's a holiday on Monday ... I'm a nice person like that!

Note, I receive 4 paychecks a month, both on the 15th and the last day. 3 of them are roughly the same amount, and the last one of the month includes my bonus which can be double, triple the amount of a bi-weekly check. Just depends on how busy it is.

Money OUT

HI!

I'm aiming to really watch them dollars and treat them like little green soldiers with a job to do each and every day ...

In late December, I opened up another CapitalOne 360 account online. This one was a checking account (I already have two savings accounts set up there) and it's specifically for grocery shopping. I figured maybe, just MAYBE this will keep my grocery shopping in check.  I deposited $200 at the time of opening and then another $200 right before the new year so I would have my new goal of $400 in that checking account. The debit card arrived a little over a week after I set it up, thanks to the funky Monday holiday schedule and I used it the first time on January 4th ...

January 7th, 2017
Aldi $26.xx

I've lost my receipt. But it was ALL veggies, along with some marked down chicken tenders and a few roast. Yes, dirt cheap which is why I bought the meat and it's all in the freezer now.  There was also tons of veggies, including 5 cucumbers, grape tomatoes, butter lettuce and a few other things.

January 8th, 2017
Publix $26.35

We were attending a Celebration of Life that evening and volunteered to pick up MORE soda as they had Italian themed catering ... uhm, everything was buy 2 get 1 free but still, that's a lot of soda.  Hubby scooped a few cans out of each carton to put in our fridge and then the rest went in the cooler with the 20 pound bag of ice ($3.69) and we took it all with us.

MONEY OUT - Beauty

HI!

I'm aiming to really watch them dollars and treat them like little green soldiers with a job to do each and every day ...

January 6th, 2017
TAO Reflexology $45.00

It's a foot massage. BUT so much more than that. My normal guy wasn't working that day and they slid some other dude in his place which was NOT any where near as good as Michael. But it was ok.  So. Is this a justifiable expense? Hmmm .... I think so. It's $35 and I give a $10 tip ... 55 minutes.  Really makes my feet feel good, especially the left one that has an issue (self diagnosed Morton Toe) ... I try to get in every 4 weeks or so.  I figured I used to spend this on a manicure and pedicure and this brings me so much more satisfaction and DOES make me feel better.

January 10th, 2017
Dry Bar $65.00

Seriously, I've been trying to get an appointment for a cut and color for what seems like forever and a day! It would help a LOT if I planned ahead when making the appointment, but I just been a little busy and distracted.  So ... I ended up doing a wash, deep conditioning and blow out the other night as I had a big meeting the following day. I know it seems extravagant but to me, this is a pampering thing ...

Not too impressed that I just spent $110 on beauty stuff although I could justify the TAO thing as health related 😉

MONEY OUT - Groceries and Pet Stuff

HI!

I'm aiming to really watch them dollars and treat them like little green soldiers with a job to do each and every day ...

January 5th, 2017
Whole Foods $18.28

So ... Hubby is not big on fruits. But he does love Honeycrisp apples. If you know anything about them, they are like THE most expensive apples around but I buy them because I love them too. We joke and call them the $2 or $5 apple, depending on the season!  So, Whole Foods is one of the few stores around here that sells the organic ones that I think just taste better (and no, I'm not an organic only kind of girl!) So, I picked up 3 pounds of apples at $3.99 a pound, and a small bag of date sugar for $5.99 ... I think I might take the sugar back as it's not what I wanted.

January 5th, 2017
PetSmart $113.40

Now that was an expensive stop! Flea medicine for the two cats. I have one that is 8 pounds and the other is almost 12 pounds so they need different strengths medicine. I did buy one and got one 50% off for what it's worth!

MONEY IN - Digit

Hi!

2017 is the year that I am treating my dollars like little green soldiers where each one will have a job!

I requested a withdrawal from my Digit account on Thursday ... my balance was $228.29 so I figured I might as well make an extra credit card payment to pay down a card more ... I will be paying this to the Amazon online store account.

$175.00 total deposited.

Digit is a pretty sweet program and I highly recommend it for a Passive Savings Plan ... l use all my withdrawals to apply towards credit card debt.

Go check out the website (and yes, that is a referral link!) and see if it's something that might work for you ...

MONEY IN - Paychecks

Hi!

2017 is the year that I am treating my dollars like little green soldiers where each one will have a job!

I made a deposit Wednesday evening. This is actually 2 checks from December that I forgot to print at work (hey, it was a very busy month for me). I didn't get to the bank until last night after my stop at the grocery store ...

$1,717.00 total deposited.

I need to move some of it to my short term savings account with CapitalOne 360 because I think my every day checking account is a little fat right now. I've already moved the $3000 worth of Christmas bonuses to my long term savings account which plumped it up nicely. Yes, I have a very generous boss and I do give my heart and soul to him 50 hours a week.

Note, I receive 4 paychecks a month, both on the 15th and the last day. 3 of them are roughly the same amount, and the last one of the month includes my bonus which can be double, triple the amount of a bi-weekly check. Just depends on how busy it is.

January 4th, 2017
Publix $31.02

Seriously, no idea how it got to $31 so quickly!

2 bunches cilantro (thought one was parsley) $1.78 for both
2 bags sweet baby peppers B1G1F $5.99 for both (as opposed to $3.99 a pound for red pepper)
2 bottles light olive oil (mayo and ranch making) B1G1F $8.63 for both
12 pk of LaCroix water $4.99
1 pound bag of carrots 99 cents
12 pk organic store brand coffee pods $7.99 (cheapest there was)
1 lonely WHITE sweet potato (1/2 pound) 65 cents (should have been $2.49/pound but he rang it up wrong)

And that, folks, was $31 worth of stuff. Wow.
